8. Privacy and Data Protection Policy (GDPR)
From May 25, 2018, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply. GDPR replaces the existing Personal Data Act (PUL) and applies to all EU countries.

Description of GDPR
GDPR has been developed to protect you as a customer and your rights regarding the handling and dissemination of your personal data. The idea is that you as our guest should feel safe knowing that your registered information is not used improperly. The current Swedish Personal Data Act (PUL) is actually the foundation for GDPR, and the majority of PUL is found within GDPR.

What is personal data?
Personal data is information that can identify you as a person in some way. This includes name, address, phone number, email, etc. Non-personal information about bookings, sales, and activities is not included as this is considered business secrets and in many cases is subject to accounting rules and reporting obligations.

Who is the Data Controller?
Hotel Riverside Avesta has overall personal data responsibility, which, together with the hotel manager, is responsible for and determines the purposes of the processing, collection, and use of the personal data that you provide to us.

How do we store your Personal Data?
Our booking systems handle relatively large amounts of personal data. If you have not re-booked with us within 12 months, your personal data will be deleted from our systems. It is important to distinguish between ordinary and sensitive personal data. Sensitive data includes, for example, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, and data concerning health or sexual preferences. Riverside Hotel Avesta will never collect data on sensitive information, however, there are free text fields in the booking engine and guest surveys that may still enter our database. This data will only be available to us if you, as a guest, choose to fill in this information in our surveys; otherwise, it is not something that Riverside Hotel Avesta actively stores.

What happens during a personal data incident?
If Hotel Riverside Avesta suffers a data breach or an accidental loss of personal data occurs, the data controller will document the incident and report it to the Swedish Data Protection Authority and affected customers within 72 hours.

What is a Register Extract?
If you have booked a stay, you have the right to see the data stored about you in our booking system.

Can you delete me from your systems?
As someone who has entered into a customer agreement with Hotel Riverside Avesta, you have the right to have all your personal data stored about you deleted. We think this is unfortunate, as we would love to offer you, as our friend, great deals and better service.

This is how it works:
As someone who has entered into a customer agreement with Hotel Riverside Avesta, you have the right, as of January 1, 2018, to have all data that can be used to identify you personally removed. This refers to information that can be used to identify you as a person. Non-personal information regarding bookings, sales, and activities is not included, as this is considered a trade secret and in many cases is covered by bookkeeping regulations and accounting obligations.

How does GDPR work in practice?
Hotel Riverside Avesta has all the necessary features for administrators in our booking systems to handle all GDPR inquiries and requests from you (or instruct the user on how they can use the features themselves).

§ Register Extract – Anyone who has entered into a customer agreement with Riverside Hotel Avesta can request the stored information at any time. Personal data in fields, free text, and that can identify you as a guest will be disclosed. Requests should be made to info@riversideavesta.se

§ Information Maintenance – To change your personal information stored about you, please contact info@riversideavesta.se for assistance.

If you have entered into a customer agreement with Riverside Hotel Avesta, you can choose to be removed from selected systems or in its entirety. You should primarily contact info@riversideavesta.se to be removed.

9. parking policy
- There is free parking, with an additional charge for charging according to supplier rates.

10. Alcohol and age limit policy
- We follow Swedish alcohol legislation. Alcohol is only served to guests over the age of 18. Room reservations require that at least one person in the party is 20 years or older.

11. Camera Policy
At Riverside Avesta AB, we have surveillance cameras installed to ensure the safety of our employees and our guests. As part of our security efforts, information about our camera surveillance is posted in visible locations at the hotel so that all our guests are aware that video surveillance is taking place.

As a private business, we have the right, as part of our ongoing work to ensure the safety of our operations, our guests, and our staff, to conduct camera surveillance within the area covered. The camera surveillance covers all areas except those considered private for our guests, i.e., hotel rooms which are not subject to non-permit camera surveillance in accordance with the Camera Surveillance Act. The supervisory authority related to the Camera Surveillance Act is the Swedish Data Protection Authority (Datainspektionen).

Camera surveillance is conducted within the scope of Hotel Riverside Avesta's operations and is handled solely by Hotel Riverside Avesta and no external party. The information, image and audio from our surveillance cameras are stored for 30 days on the hotel's own servers and thus do not reach any external party. After 30 days, the image and audio recorded by the surveillance cameras are deleted.

Information signs at the hotel explain how and where to contact the hotel for more information on how the data generated by our camera surveillance is handled to ensure the privacy of our guests.

To read more about our privacy policy, go to www.riversideavesta.se. There you will find information on how to proceed to get information about data that may be considered personal data and how this can be removed from storage before it is deleted after 30 days.

As our employees are covered by camera surveillance, this is handled within the framework of union negotiation and the Co-determination Act.
In the event of suspected criminal activity, information from surveillance cameras will be handed over to the police if a request is made.
